::chants:: the fad will pass...

so i just discovered a new talent...

when i was in grade school...possibly the 2nd grade or so...i learned a song which listed all the states in alphabetical order. somehow, by some stretch of an extremely good memory, i still remember the tune of this song and all the states in their proper order. im not exactly sure how it came up, but tonight in the car on the way home from tulsa, mom and i began to sing this song. now, im not usually much of one for speed singing, but in some strange fashion, i find it fun to belt out states as fast as possible. and guess what i discovered?

i can sing all 50 states in alphabetical order in under 20 seconds.

yes, that's right, 20 seconds.

now is that impressive or what? i told mom that in some strange way, i have fulfilled my purpose in life, discovering i can sing all 50 states 3 times in 1 minute.

so you're probably asking yourself "why were you and your mom in the car on your way home from tulsa?"

actually...you're probably asking yourself "is this chick on medication?" but im chosing to ignore that particular question.

have you ever seen the movie "thoroughly modern millie?" eh...probably not. its an older movie with julie andrews and mary tyler moore. it's a musical set in the early 20's, and it's as corny as all get out.

anyhoo...mom loves this movie and had me watch it when i was a very little girl, and i too fell in love with millie's charm. so throughout my childhood, at random times, we'd rent this movie and sit down and watch it and just thoroughly enjoy ourselves.

well the other day, i was thinking about this movie, and i was wondering if it really was julie andrews who plays millie, so i went to google and typed in the name of the flick. well, much to my surprise, the first website that pops up on google is the official website for the broadway production of "thoroughly modern millie". i had no idea they'd made it into a play! i was so excited to see they were on tour that i went and checked to see if it would be anywhere in the area anytime soon. and guess what! it was coming to tulsa (which is only a couple of hours away, and it's where my grandma lives) in only 3 weeks! perfect! as soon as i saw it, i just had to buy tickets for myself and my mom. i told her to mark off today on her calander for her and i to spend time together because i had plans for us, but didnt tell her what we were doing. she was so surprised, and we had such a good time! we went early and had a nice lunch and went to the afternoon show. it was great! i love going to plays, though i very rarely get the chance. we spent the whole day together having fun, it was great way to end the summer. i know once school starts, i will be very busy and wont be able to spend much time with her, so this was a great chance to just get in some quality time.

so what else?

i rock at hearts! ive gotten pretty good at the game, and have started playing it frequently on the computer. this is very exciting for me, but probably not so much for you, my mystery reader. oh well...it's my diary, so it's my opinion that counts anyway...

i keep trying on pairs of pumps that are very in fashion right now. you know those pointy-toe spike-heal jobs that people are wearing? i hate the way they look on me, they are so uncomfortable, but somehow...they keep calling to me! every time i try them on, i say to myself "i hate these shoes...i want to buy them!"

there is so something wrong with me.

i have yet to actually purchase a pair. i keep chanting to myself "the fad will pass, the fad will pass, the fad will pass" but somehow, i keep being drawn back to the stupid things. this fad had better pass pretty frickin soon, or im gunna wind up with shoes i abhor.

in other news, i am still reading anna karenina. and guess what. i'm not quite halfway through! it's like the book that wont freaking end!! i mean...its good...but geez! how long does a novel really need to be? oh...and remember how i was saying that i wanted to read a tale of two cities? yeah...i checked it out from the library unabridged on audiocasset. i listened to half of it...and couldnt force myself to finish it! seriously...how much detail does one need to go into about the impoverished state of the commonfolk before he gets his point across? yargh! so i switched and listened to harry potter on tape instead. now there's something i can appreciate. who needs dickens when you can have childrens literature? seriously! (or should i say siriusly? hehehe...)

btw...if you didnt understand that little paranthetical comment...yeah, im not gunna explain it.

so...yeah. that's life in abbyland. i need to update my biography and cast page. badly. someday im sure i'll get around to that. but not tonight...

now im off to play hearts! huzzah!
